Farm Credit organizations in western North Dakota today announced 14 grants totaling $254,500 to worthy programs that will improve lives in local communities through the Rural Community Grant Fund.
The fund was established as a partnership between AgCountry Farm Credit Services and Farm Credit Services of Mandan – the two largest providers of agricultural loans in western North Dakota – and AgriBank Farm Credit Bank, their St. Paul, Minn.-based funding bank, to help communities impacted by mineral development.
“AgCountry Farm Credit Services is proud to support these worthy organizations that deliver essential services to our rural communities,” says Marc Knisely, CEO, AgCountry Farm Credit Services. “The impact they have is far-reaching, provides a variety of needed resources, and makes a significant difference in rural communities,” Knisely adds.
Grants support critical community needs such as health, safety, and emergency services.
The latest grants include:
- $40,000 to Amidon Fire Protection District for a fire truck
- $40,000 to Dickinson Area Ambulance Service for ambulance radios
- $30,000 to Sioux Yellowstone Rural Fire Protection District for a fire truck
- $25,000 to Bowbells Volunteer Fire Department for a fire truck
- $25,000 to Lansford Fire Department for a new fire station
- $25,000 to Powers Lake Rural Fire District #5 for a firefighting vehicle
- $24,000 to Minot Rural Fire Protection District for firefighting gear
- $10,000 to Portal International Fire Department for firefighting gear
- $10,000 to Powers Lake Police Department for patrol car dash camera replacement
- $6,000 to Domestic Violence Crisis Center for interview room furnishings
- $5,000 to 31:8 Project for human trafficking victim support
- $5,000 to Dickinson Police Department for police equipment
- $5,000 to Women’s Action and Resource Center for food pantry shelving and equipment
- $4,500 to St. Luke’s Hospital for medical equipment
“We are proud to continue to provide these organizations with grant funding assistance that positively impacts their organizations and rural communities,” says Tom Henry, AgCountry Farm Credit Services Board Member. “Their essential services are critical to the well-being of those in oil impacted areas in western North Dakota,” Henry adds.
The Rural Community Grant Fund is accepting applications for programs that meet the needs of local communities impacted by expanded mineral exploration and production in western North Dakota.
